Hi Baby

It’s our 34th week together. Alhamdulillah we have made it this far. Please stay a while longer in Mommy’s tummy ok, at least for another couple of weeks. It has been quite a journey for us. Let see if Mommy can recall it for you here.

Mommy and Papa found out that we are having you sometime in September 2013. Mommy took a home pregnancy test at Week 5 but waited until Week 6 to confirm it at the panel clinic so that they can do ultrasound of you and Mommy will get to see your heartbeat. Much to our chagrin, the doctor told us that there is a chance that Mommy has had missed abortion as you have not progressed as you should have (two weeks lagging). We were told to come back in two weeks’ time to see if you continue progress or Mommy will have to undergo D&C to abort you if you fail to progress and Mommy does not miscarry naturally.

However, two weeks is too long of a wait for Mommy. So, immediately, Mommy tried to get an appointment with a gynae at SJMC. Mommy’s first choice was Dr T. She was Mommy’s gynae when Mommy was pregnant with Kak Sarah. Unfortunately, she was on a month leave. So, in the end Mommy opt to see Dr C.

To our relief, she told us everything was going fine and you are progressing as you should and the panel doctor made a mistake. Alhamdulillah. Mommy cried but be rest assured that they were tears of joy! Everything was going smoothly, until Mommy started having spottings when Mommy was about 3 months pregnant with you. This problem persists until now but it is becoming scarcer. But, every day is a constant worry for Mommy, worry for your safety. Dr T was not sure why Mommy was still spotting but suspected that Mommy’s cervix may not be as strong as it was when Mommy was carrying Kak Sarah.

At about 6 months of pregnancy, Dr T noticed that Mommy’s water was slightly more that what it should be, which maybe an indication to diabetes related to pregnancy. So, Mommy had to take a sugar test. Mommy had to fast overnight for this test. First, they drew blood and take Mommy’s urine sample. Then, they made Mommy drink a cup full of sugared water. Mommy had a real tough time keeping it in Mommy’s tummy. Two hours later, they drew another blood and collected another urine sample. Alhamdulillah, it was false alarm. So, Mommy get to eat whatever Mommy want still.

At 29th week check up, Dr T discovered that Mommy’s cervix has started thinning. At that stage, it should be about 3 cm thick but Mommy’s was only 2-2.5cm. It got her and Mommy and Papa worried. So she gave Mommy MC for 4 weeks to bedrest and avoid premature delivery. As a precaution, she also made Mommy took a couple of injections to help develop your lungs faster just in case you decide to make early appearance. During that 4 weeks also, Mommy had to take anti-contraction medication.

Being pregnant with you gives a totally new experience for Mommy. Mommy only had a one day morning sickness with Kak Sarah. But, with you, it lasted for two months. Mommy will vomit around 10 in the morning and at around 10 pm. Anything in between is bonus. Mommy also get bloated and heartburn all the time. But no new stretch marks!

So far, Mommy noticed that you are a very active baby and you respond well to Kak Sarah’s voice. You love fresh meals and does not fancy cold or spicy food.

Mommy just wants to say that Mommy has enjoyed having you in Mommy’s tummy every single day and really cannot wait to meet you when the right time comes. Love you lots.
